It seems like only a few months ago I was a college freshman. I remember hauling most of my things out of my parents’ house, loading them on a truck and systematically cramming them into a dorm like a small child trying to play Tetris for the first time.
As months went by, I became more comfortable attending Ohio State, which enrolls more than 65,000 students, and I soon developed a passion for persuasion and writing. I began taking multiple Communication and English courses and soon found my niche inside the walls of the Journalism building.
Through practice, like with any passion, I was able to increase my skills and become a better writer. I could tell my days of youthful partying were coming to an end, and I truly began to envision a future in public relations.
Currently, I’m in my senior year of school with only a few quarters remaining. I will finish with a degree in strategic communications with a minor in professional writing, and I am at the point in my career where I want to set myself apart from my peers.
I am not creating this blog to prove to employers that I’m tech savvy, but rather to use this blog as an expression of my creativity. If my course studies have taught me anything, it is to make use of Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and other social media applications. The “typewriter” style of public relations is coming to end and a newer, modern age is beckoned.
I welcome and encourage all who visit my blog to express what needs to be said. There is no right or wrong opinion on this blog. Not being able to express an idea will hurt you more. Just be professional with your comments.
